How to Make Money on Facebook and Myspace
If you're familiar with social networks like Myspace and Facebook, then you probably view them as good places to hook-up with friends and stay in touch. But what many don't realize, is that thousands of dollars are being made by users of these websites on a daily basis. I'm sure you've received spam from people who are advertising adult websites or content. They wouldn't be spamming you if they weren't making money at it. But being a spammer can be pretty immoral, not to mention illegal in some parts of the world. It also leaves you open to become the target of a lawsuit when companies like Facebook and Myspace get fed up and decide to put an end to your spamming. But you don't have to be a spammer to make money on these types of websites. In fact, there's plenty of ways to pull in some extra cash just by using a little imagination and creativity. So in this article, I'm going to list some of the best ways to earn a part-time, or even full-time income with social websites. Sending millions of unwanted messages to people who are not in your friend network can definitely be considered to be spam. But if you already have lots of friends on these social sites, then it's not exactly spamming since there are no laws that state that you can't promote products to your own friends.
There are a number of different programs out there that will allow you to add friends automatically when using social sites like Myspace and Facebook. I've personally used a friend adder on Myspace and found that it works very well. The only drawback was that it would not allow me to add more than 300 per day, unless I paid $30. This seems like a fair deal since I can use all those "friends" to bring in more income. So these types of programs can pay themselves off rather quickly, but if you do decide to use any, you should make sure they work first during the test drive. There are a few problems with using these types of programs. The first is that many social sites like Myspace have banned these types of programs from their sites. So if you use one and they see you are adding new friends faster than your average person does, they may suspend your account or delete it. Once you have lots of friends to reach out to, you can use this to your advantage in a number of ways which I'll cover further in this article.
If you're creative and know how to use simple video editing programs like Windows Movie Maker, then you can probably make some good money by using social sites as outlets to advertise. The way this plan works is pretty simple and easy to follow. First you get a domain name that's catchy and easy to remember. Then setup a simple website for that domain name, such as an informative website with ads on it (such as Google Adsense or Adbrite ads). Then you can make videos that are related to that website, and put a logo at the bottom of the screen which advertises the domain name for your website. Next, upload that video to Youtube or whatever other video uploading site you're accustomed to. On Youtube, you can apply for Google Adsense Revenue Sharing, so not only will you have ads on your website, but on your actual video as well. If you have lots of videos, Youtube may even invite you to join their Partner Program, so you can make money for every 1,000 views you get, in addition to making money on some of the ads on your site. So once you have a video that is advertising your website, you can embed that video on your Myspace or Facebook page. If you've used a friend adder or added lots of friends manually, then many may click on the video and either visit your website, or click the ads on the screen of the video. This can really pay off if you have thousands of friends and an interesting looking video. You can take advantage of the bulletin feature on sites like Myspace, because when you post a video or link as a bulletin, all your friends will see it and you may get lots of clicks or views.
In addition to posting ads on your website, you can also post links or banners to affiliate products. This method of making money online is known as Affiliate Marketing. When you're an affiliate for a company, they will let you sell products for them by either selling directly to your customers, or by referring those customers to the company's website and earning a commision on each person you refer that results in a sale. So if you have lots of friends added on Myspace or Facebook, you can post links on your profile or in bulletins that lead to affiliate products. If anybody decides to buy these products, than you will get a commission and this can really add up if you know what you're doing. There are a number of companies that offer affiliate programs for you to make money, you just have to look at the bottom of some of the most popular websites to see if there are any links that say something such as "affiliate program" or "partner with us". You can also post affiliate links or products on your website alongside ads or to replace the ads all together if you think they may be more profitable.
Another way to make money from your accounts is to sell them. There are many internet entrepreneurs out there that see the value in social networks, and who are willing to purchase accounts that have thousands of friends or contacts on them. There used to be a large market for this on Ebay, but they no longer allow it so you'll have to go elsewhere if you're looking to sell these types of accounts. People used to use the friend adder programs and gain tons of contacts and friends quickly, then they'd turn around and sell the accounts for a quick profit on Ebay. This isn't illegal, but many social websites such as Myspace and Facebook have banned the practice and most likely spoke to Ebay about it as well. So if you sell an account to someone and these websites somehow find out about it, you may have a very angry customer on your hands once the account gets deleted.
